Removing
WARNING
- Remove the front seat. Refer to → Chapter "Front Seat, Removing and Installing".
- Attach the front seat to the Engine/Transmission Holder - Seat Repair Fixture -VAS6136-. Refer to → Chapter "Front Seat, Mounting on Fixture for Seat Repair".
- Remove the front seat belt latch. Refer to → Chapter "Front Seat Belt Latch, Removing and Installing".
- Turn the front seat belt latch downward.
Note
It is not necessary to disconnect or remove the electrical wire.
- Remove expanding clip -2-.
- Release the tab -arrow A- and remove the seat side trim -1- toward the outside -arrow B-.
- Remove the seat side trim on the tunnel side in direction of -arrow C-.
Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Ignition must be on when connecting battery. If pyrotechnic components (for example, airbag, belt tensioner) are not repaired correctly, they may deploy unintentionally after connecting battery. There must not be anyone inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
DANGER!
When working on vehicles with the ignition already switched on or that are ready to drive there is a danger of the engine starting unexpectedly and of being poisoned by gas in enclosed areas. Risk of body parts and/or clothing being clamped or pulled.
Perform the following before switching on the ignition:
- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to → Electrical Equipment; Rep. Gr.27; Battery; Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
Note
If the Airbag Indicator Lamp -K75- indicates a fault, check the DTC memory, erase it and check it again. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
Removing and Installing the Seat Adjustment Control Head
Special tools and workshop equipment required
Removing
- Carefully remove the Seat adjustment control for backrest adjustment -1- with the Trim Removal Wedge -3409- from the catch.
- Remove the seat side sill panel trim. Refer to → Chapter "Sill Side Trim, Removing and Installing, Standard, Comfort Seat, Sport Seat Power Seats".
- Remove the bolts -3, 4 and 5-.
- Control head -1- from the seat side sill trim -2-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
Drawer Mount, Removing and Installing
Removing
- Remove the seat side sill panel trim bracket. Refer to → Chapter "Sill Side Trim, Removing and Installing, Standard/Sport Manual Seats".
- Move the seat all the way to the rear and raise it.
- Carefully push the right and left release tab -3- toward the outside with a screwdriver and remove the drawer -1- from the mount -2-.
- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
- Disengage and remove the drawer mount form the retainers in the seat pan frame.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
Storage Compartment, Removing and Installing
Removing
WARNING
- Remove the front seat. Refer to → Chapter "Front Seat, Removing and Installing".
- Attach the front seat to the Engine/Transmission Holder - Seat Repair Fixture -VAS6136-. Refer to → Chapter "Front Seat, Mounting on Fixture for Seat Repair".
- Open storage compartment -1-.
- Remove the bolts -2-.
- Disconnect the retainer -arrow- between the storage compartment -2- and the seat side sill trim -1-.
- Slide the storage compartment -1- in the -direction of the arrow- and disengage the storage compartment retainer -lower arrow- on the seat pan upper frame -2-.
- Remove the storage compartment from the seat pan upper frame.
Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
