Audi Q5: Luggage Compartment Side Trim Panel, Removing and Installing
Special tools and workshop equipment
required
- Pry Lever -80 - 200-
- Trim Removal Wedge -3409-
- Omega Clip Tool -T40280-, is needed to remove any clips are
that still inside the body.
Removing
- Versions with screen separator: Remove the screen separator.
- Fold the backrest forward.
- Remove the rear cross panel trim. Refer to
→ Chapter "Lock Carrier Trim, Removing and Installing,
Non-Hybrid Vehicles".
- Remove the gap cover:
- Vehicles without a retaining rail. Refer to
→ Chapter "Gap Cover, Removing and Installing, Vehicles without
a Retaining Track".
- Vehicles with retaining rail. Refer to
→ Chapter "Gap Cover, Removing and Installing, Vehicles with a
Retaining Track".
- Remove the rear backrest release and let the cable hang
down. Refer to
→ Chapter "Backrest lock Adjustment Actuator, Removing and
Installing".
- Remove the luggage compartment lamp. Refer to
→ Electrical Equipment; Rep. Gr.96; Lamps; Overview - Luggage
Compartment Lamps.
- Remove the coat hook. Refer to
→ Chapter "Coat Hooks, Removing and Installing".
- Remove the cover for the luggage compartment side panel.
- Remove the bolt -2-.
- Pry the luggage compartment side trim
-1- using the Pry Lever -80 - 200- from the body
-A arrows-.
- Remove the luggage compartment side trim panel around the
D-pillar -arrow B- and the rear
sill trim strip -arrow C- using the
Trim Removal Wedge -3409-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
Note
- If the trim clamps remain in the body mounting points,
remove them and insert them in the trim.
- Check clamps for damage or deformation, replace if
necessary.
- Mount the luggage compartment side trim panel and press on
it until it audibly latches.
- Fold the rubber lip from the rear lid rear lid seal over the
luggage compartment trim panel.

Removing
- Fold the backrests forward.
- Remove the rear luggage compartment floor.
- Lift the luggage compartment floor at the front
-1--arrow A- and remove it
-arrows B-.
Note
Shown in the illustrations is a vehicle equipped with a gap
cover.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.

Removing
WARNING
The engine could start unexpectedly.
For general work performed on the high voltage
system the ignition must be switched off and the key
must be kept outside of the vehicle interior.
DANGER!
High voltage components have hazardous voltage.
Note the following when working near high voltage
components and high voltage cables:
- Cutting, deformed, and sharp edged tools or heat
sources such as welding, solder, hot air and thermal
glue are forbidden.
- Visually inspect the work area before working on
high voltage components.
- Perform a visual inspection of the Electric Drive
Power And Control Electronics -JX1-, the Electro-Drive
Drive Motor -V141-, the A/C Compressor -V470- and the
high voltage lines when working in the engine
compartment.
- Visually inspect the high voltage cables and the
covers when working on the underbody.
- Visually inspect the high voltage cables, the
electronics and the High Voltage System Maintenance
Connector -TW -, when working in the luggage
compartment.
- Visually inspect all potential equalization cables.
Observe the following when performing the visual
inspection:
- None of the components appear to have any external
damage.
- The high voltage cable insulation and the potential
equalization cable insulation are not damaged.
- The high voltage cables must not have any unusual
deformations.
- Each high voltage component must be marked with a
red warning label.
- Fold the backrests forward.
- Remove the tie downs -1- and
-2-, refer to
→ Chapter "Tie Down, Removing and Installing".
- Lift up and remove the luggage compartment floor panel and
tool box -3- towards the rear.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.

and remove the tools.
- Release the tabs -arrows- using
a screwdriver pull the tool box upward and out of the luggage
compartment floor panel.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.

With high outside temperatures or long daily
drives we recommend that you have the electrolyte
level checked by an authorized Audi dealer or
