Audi Q5: Covers and Cushions, Removing and Installing

Backrest Cover and Padding without a Pass-Through, Removing and Installing

Removing

- Remove the rear seat. Refer to → Chapter "Rear Seat, Removing and Installing".

- Remove the rear headrests. Refer to → Chapter "Headrest, Removing and Installing".

- Remove rear headrest guides. Refer to → Chapter "Headrest Guide, Removing and Installing".

- Remove the rear center armrest. Refer to → Chapter "Center Armrest, Removing and Installing".

- Remover the rear seat belt guide in the center. Refer to → Chapter "Rear Seat Belt Cover in Center Seating Position, Removing and Installing".

- Remove the center rear belt end fitting. Refer to → Chapter "Rear Seat Belt Anchor in Center Seating Position, Removing and Installing".

- Pry off the retaining strip -2- on the back side of the backrest frame -3- and remove it all the way around -arrow-.

- Disengage the retaining strip -4- on the front side of the backrest frame.

- Remove the lower cover and cushion -1- between the seat frame and backrest frame.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Make sure the retaining strips engage correctly and the cover is not wrinkled.

Backrest Cover and Padding with Pass-Through, Removing and Installing

Removing

- Remove the left two third rear seat. Refer to → Chapter "Rear Seat, Removing and Installing".

- Remove the rear headrests. Refer to → Chapter "Headrest, Removing and Installing".

- Remove rear headrest guides. Refer to → Chapter "Headrest Guide, Removing and Installing".

- Remove the pass-through door. Refer to → Chapter "Pass-Through Cover, Removing and Installing".

- Remove the rear center belt guide. Refer to → Chapter "Rear Seat Belt Cover in Center Seating Position, Removing and Installing".

- Remove the center rear belt end fitting. Refer to → Chapter "Rear Seat Belt Anchor in Center Seating Position, Removing and Installing".

- Pry off the retaining strips -3- on the back side of the backrest frame -2- and remove it all the way around -arrow-.

- Remove the lower cover and cushion -1- between the seat frame and backrest frame.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Make sure the retaining strips engage correctly and the cover is not wrinkled.

Pass-Through Door Cover And Padding, Removing And Installing

Special tools and workshop equipment required

  • Pop Rivet Pliers -VAG1753A- for the cushion
  • Drill
  • Brill diameter 4 mm.
  • Protective eyewear

Removing

- Remove the rear center armrest. Refer to → Chapter "Center Armrest, Removing and Installing".

- Remove the pass-through door. Refer to → Chapter "Pass-Through Cover, Removing and Installing".

Seat Cover:

- Pry off and remove the retaining strips -2- on the back side of the pass-through door -3--arrow-.

- Disengage the retaining strips -4- on the front side of the pass-through door.

- Remove the cover -1- from the pass-through door.

Cushion:

  • Cover removed.

  WARNING

Danger of eye injury.

Wear protective eyewear.

- Remove the rivets -3- and remove the cushion -2- from the pass-through door -1-.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Make sure the retaining strips engage correctly and the cover is not wrinkled.

Backrest Frame, Gluing with Luggage Compartment Floor Covering

Special tools and workshop equipment required

  • For the correct glue. Refer to the Parts Catalog.

A replacement backrest frame is supplied with the luggage compartment covering.

- Order the luggage compartment covering having the correct color.

- Glue the luggage compartment cover first to the back of the backrest frame before installing the cover and cushion.

Pass-through Door, Gluing with Luggage Compartment Cover

Special tools and workshop equipment required

  • For the correct glue. Refer to the Parts Catalog.

A replacement pass-through door is supplied without the luggage compartment cover.

- Order the luggage compartment covering having the correct color.

- Glue the luggage compartment cover first to the back of the pass-through door before installing the cover and cushion.
